How We Help

The West Blvd Ministry gives back to the community by fostering positive relationships between the West Blvd Corridor and educational professionals, law enforcement officers and other families. This is critical to reducing stereotyping and bias by encouraging positive interactions. At the same time, fostering these relationships can lead to a greater impact on a child’s academic success.

Here are some of the programs that West Blvd Ministry provides:

  • STARS Mentoring Program

This program has weekly fellowship focusing on spiritual and personal growth. We partner with teachers to ensure STARS are receiving support to be successful at school. Over 50 elementary and middle school boys have participated in STARS. Those involved in the STARS program have experienced Panthers Football games, White Water Center trips, UNC and Duke visits, beach trips and more.

  • BBQ For Blue

Every month, we host a Law Enforcement Appreciation gathering, where we honor the dedicated service of the men and women at CMPD Westover and Freedom divisions. These gatherings foster an open channel of communication, enabling law enforcement to better understand and meet the needs of families in the community. So far, we’ve had 30 events, served over 2,000 meals, and we’re excited for more to come.

  • School Partnerships

WBM strives to develop positive and intentional relationships with students, educators and local schools. We have invested over $200,000 in West Charlotte schools in various activities like teacher appreciation events, student behavior incentives, donations of sporting uniforms, prom and field day sponsorships.

  • Annual Christmas Toy Drive

The WBM family comes together each Christmas to gather presents in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Thousands of presents are collected throughout November and December and then distributed on Christmas morning to children living nearby. This special event opens the door for relationship-building, fellowship and the celebration of the power in community.

  • Neighborhood Cook Outs

WBM Neighborhood Cookout events are annual spring and summer events where we bring unity to the community. Law enforcement, local churches, volunteers & residents come together for a day of food, fellowship and fun.
